Bringing Clean Water
to Our Community

At Furahia Transfer, we believe businesses should play a meaningful role in the communities around them. This is our story of how we went from transporting people — to transforming lives.

The Furahia Community Well — Arusha, Tanzania

"A business that moves people has a responsibility to move communities forward — not just from A to B, but toward a better tomorrow."

The Furahia Community Well

Funded and constructed by Furahia Transfer Group in 2024, this well provides reliable access to clean water for families in the Arusha region — named in our community's honour.

Our Responsibility

We operate in this community. Our drivers live here. Our clients pass through here. Improving life in this area is not charity — it is the right thing for a responsible business to do.

Project Year

Funded in 2023, completed and inaugurated in early 2024. The well is now fully operational and maintained by a community water committee supported by Furahia Transfer.

Our Community Water Initiative

A Well That Serves
Our Neighbours

At Furahia Transfer, we believe businesses should play a positive role in the communities around them. Transport brought us here, but it is the people of this community — our neighbours, our employees' families, the households our drivers pass every day — who make this a place worth investing in.

To act on that belief, we funded and constructed a water well near our operational headquarters in the Arusha region. The Furahia Community Well now provides reliable, year-round access to clean water for families in the surrounding area — addressing a daily challenge that many had faced for years.

Access to water is not a luxury. It is a basic necessity of life. And we are proud that this project helps improve daily life — and daily dignity — for many households in our community.

"We didn't build this well because it was required of us. We built it because it was the right thing to do — and because these are our neighbours."

Why This Project Matters

The Problem
We Helped Solve

Many members of the surrounding community previously had to travel long distances — sometimes over 3 kilometres each way — to access water. For families without vehicles, this meant hours of daily effort, often carried by women and children on foot.

During the dry season, the challenge became even more acute. Water sources became unreliable, and competition for access increased. Children missed school. Adults lost productive hours. The burden was silent but significant.

By constructing a well close to residential areas and our operational base, we aimed to reduce that burden — making clean water accessible, convenient, and dependable for the families who needed it most.

Community Impact

What This Well
Changes Every Day

Impact is not just a number — it is the hours given back to families, the children who arrive at school on time, the mothers who no longer carry heavy loads for kilometres before dawn. These are the real results of the Furahia Community Well.

Reliable Water Access

Clean water is now available to nearby households year-round — dry season and wet season — without travel or waiting.

Hours Given Back

Families save up to 2 hours every day previously spent walking to collect water — time now available for work, education, and rest.

Children in School on Time

With water no longer requiring early morning journeys, children can reach school on time and with more energy to learn.

Healthier Living Conditions

Clean, safe water reduces waterborne illness risk and supports better hygiene practices for all households in the area.

Stronger Community Bonds

The well has become a gathering point — strengthening the relationship between Furahia Transfer and the people who surround us.

Our Commitment to Community

Transport is Our Business.
People Are Our Purpose.

While our business focuses on transport, cargo, and hospitality services, we also believe deeply in creating positive impact wherever we operate. Community support initiatives like this well project are not a distraction from our work — they are an extension of who we are as a company.

A responsible business does not just serve its clients. It serves its community. It invests in the people around it, protects the environment it depends on, and builds something worth being proud of — beyond the balance sheet.

The Furahia Community Well is one visible expression of those values. It will not be the last.

Responsible Business

We believe that every shilling of revenue carries a responsibility — to the clients who trusted us, the community that surrounds us, and the environment we all share.

Long-Term Thinking

Building a well is not a short-term gesture. It is a long-term investment in the wellbeing of a community we intend to serve and be part of for decades to come.

Genuine Action

We do not talk about community responsibility — we act on it. The well exists because our team made it happen, not because it was convenient or required.

Measurable Impact

Every initiative we take is tied to a real outcome — families served, hours returned, lives improved. We hold ourselves accountable to results, not intentions.

Looking Forward

This Is Only
the Beginning

The water well is part of our broader commitment to contribute positively to the communities we serve. We hope to support more initiatives that improve daily life and create lasting opportunity in the years ahead. Here is what we are working toward next.
